Donald Young Gloversville's Bio:
Donald Young Gloversville's Experience:
-
QA inspector at Power and Composites Technologies
April 2012 - August 2012Inspection of parts both machined in-house and from various suppliers both foriegn and domestic. These were much larger parts than I have worked with before so I certainly expanded my experience. Unfortunately my experience was cut short by a company-wide downsizing
-
Incoming QC Technician at Applied Robotics
March 2010 - April 2012Inspecting parts from vendors and in house machine shop. Went to training for G,D and T and then CMM programming using PC DMIS. My confidence and skill in programming increased daily. I also performed calibrations and testing. Worked closely with vendors to improve the quality of their parts to meet exacting standards. Also involved in the business aspect of things along with working closely with different departments such as engineering, sales and technical support. Reviewed and updated Work Instructions, test, inspection and other procedures, engineering drawings and ECRs while getting heavily involved in document and revision control. I am now a trained internal auditor for ISO procedures. Anything I can do to improve things, I am ready, willing and able to take on the challenges ahead.
-
Quality Manager at International Electronic Machines
February 2007 - August 2009I started as a bench technician and quickly moved into quality control where I was instrumental in setting up their quality department. It is a small but successful R+D engineering firm with several patented gauges for the transportation industry. I inspected and tested parts, assemblies and finished product. I wrote most of the test and inspection procedures. I also audited all MIs, AIs, checklists and all mechanical and electrical drawings. During my tenure there the MTBF increased for 8 consecutive quarters. Due to all this hard work and instructing other employees in proper procedures, IEM earned ISO 9001-2008 certification. What I liked most about my work there was traveling to customer sites to train their employees in the care and use of our products. At Amtrak, I trained 2 of their engineers in proper use of several of the measuring gages. In Maryland, I instructed over a dozen members of the State Police in proper use of the Thermal Imaging System. This resulted in safer highways for us all. At Union Pacific, I led a 2 day Train The Trainer class. This assisted their regional trainers to better show all UP personnel the best use of IEMs products. Since IEM was a small firm, I was willing to do anything else that was needed including shipping and receiving.
-
Instrument technician at GE Performance Services
August 2000 - September 2002Calibrated, tested, packed, shipped and installed test and measuring equipment at field sites. Documented all work and moved to next site or back to the office. Communicated regularly, clearly and effectively with customs and shipping agents, customers and all departments on the job. Streamlined shop inventory to increase efficiency. Trained fellow employees in packing and shipping procedures to reduce downtime and damages during shipping.
-
Electrical Technician at Supersteel of Schenectady
July 1997 - May 1999Wired locomotives from 14 gauge to 1.5 inch 600VDC cabling. Wrote several wiring and assembly procedures that were included in their ISO quality manual. Assisted other techs with mechanical assembly. Performed many other varied tasks until laid off due to foreign competion.
-
Infantryman/ Electro-mechanical Tech/Nurse at US Army/Army Reserve
1982 - 1997Joined the Army as an Infantryman (shoot weapons and blow things up). After several years, I moved on to repair and maintain Field Artillery computers where I earned distingushed honor graduate at Ft. Sill. Then the Army put me through nursing school. At all my positions, I participated in training seminars first as an associate instructor then full instructor. I was stationed several places, had many exciting positions and met many people from around the world. A well rounded individual I'd say.
